Day 26 of Lent
Sunday, Mar. 2, 2008

As [Jesus] walked along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?" Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned; he was born blind so that God's works might be revealed in him. We must work the works of him who sent me while it is day; night is coming when no one can work. As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world." When he had said this, he spat on the ground and made mud with the saliva and spread the mud on the man's eyes, saying to him, "Go, wash in the pool of Siloam" (which means Sent). Then he went and washed and came back able to see.

John 9:1-7

To think about:

So much of the time we get so caught up in trying to figure out who did what and why things happen that we miss the entire message that God is trying convey. A son was born to my wife and me 28 years ago. There were difficulties at birth which left him having seizures. He was a special education student all through school. Instead of wallowing in self pity, we encouraged him in everything he did. He even played hockey. He was an example to many people for the things he COULD do! Today he is married and has a full-time job.

People sit around wondering why and miss the boat. Night falls on their lives and nothing is accomplished. God is alive and working in everyone's lives. The mud God used for our son was his parents, and he guided our every step.

To pray:

We give you thanks, dear God, that in the trials of life you will guide our every step. The light that you send in Jesus Christ is the light that you have called us to share with our neighbors. May each one of us be a witness of that light. Amen.
