ELCA Partner Synods Pray Together

Since March 2002, synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America have been paired in what's called the Partner Synod program. The purpose? To encourage Lutherans from different parts of the country to get better acquainted with one another's history, customs, cultures and faith practices.
The Northern Great Lakes Synod, led by Bishop Tom Skrenes, consists of 94 congregations, 137 pastors and 41,000 laypeople in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and northeastern Wisconsin.
The Delaware-Maryland Synod, led by Bishop Jerry Knoche, consists of 183 congregations, 301 pastors and 90,471 laypeople in the entire state of Delaware and most of Maryland (excluding the counties adjacent to Washington, D.C., and the westernmost counties).
These two synods have committed themselves to a mutual prayer covenant and are currently exploring other ways to make the most of their Partner Synod relationship. As part of that commitment to prayer, the synods are joining together to provide daily devotions online during Lent 2009. You're invited to join with them in following the path to the cross this year.
