Northern Great Lakes Synod Grants for
Young Adult Outreach Ministries
In January of 2009 the Northern Great Lakes Synod Council took action to designate that the offerings gathered at the 2009 Synod Assembly be used to fund congregational grants for young adult outreach ministries.
It is anticipated that approximately $5,000 will be available for congregational grants. Congregations can use this opportunity to begin a new young adult outreach ministry or strengthen an existing one. For the purposes of these grants, young adults are those who are post-high school through thirtysomething.
Does your congregation have an idea, dream or vision for a ministry that reaches out to young women and men but could use a bit of a financial boost to make it happen? Since there are no “one size fits all” ministry programs, you decide the size and scope of the ministry project, event, activity, or program. Apply for the amount of grant dollars you need to help fund your idea—grant awards will be between $100 and $500. You will need to provide congregational matching funds.
Grant Requirements in a Nutshell:
On the grant application you’ll be asked to provide a brief description of your young adult outreach ministry idea, project, program, event or activity, as well as a description of the expected outcomes.
You’ll be asked to agree to provide a report of the ministry activity within 45 days of its conclusion
You’ll be asked to give permission to share your idea with other congregations across the Northern Great Lakes Synod.
Grant Disbursements
Half of the grant award will be disbursed when a congregation is notified that a grant has been awarded.
The second half of the grant will be disbursed when the report of the evangelism ministry activity has been received at the synod office.
